Athletics

Building Character

The Athletic program at Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr (SHA) plays an important role in student life. We offer ten sports for Upper School students, many with Varsity and JV teams, and several sports for Middle School students. We're proud to say that 80% of our Upper School students participate in interscholastic athletics.

The SHA Athletics program develops character, confidence, and leadership in its student-athletes. Our experienced and caring coaches guide their teams and players in a supportive, yet fun, environment. Student-athletes realize their full range of talents alongside teammates who often become friends for life.

Every year, SHA graduates continue their athletic careers at the NCAA and college club levels.  Most of all, they look back at their time as a Lion with pride!

AACA and PIAA Membership

SHA is a member of the Athletics Association of Catholic Academies League (AACA), a highly competitive league across three counties. Our teams take part in numerous non-league matchups to complement their AACA schedule. SHA is also a member of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA).

The Lions often advance to postseason competition in the league and at the PIAA District One and State levels.

Fitness Facilities

In addition to our Athletics facilities, SHA students have access to the Lion Fitness Room which includes free weights, stability balls, and aerobic and anaerobic machines used for training, exercise regimens, and injury rehabilitation. Crew athletes train with ergs year-round in another designated fitness space.

SHA is committed to expand its fitness facilities. The school recently earned a grant from The Shine On Fund which has been earmarked for equipment.

"One acquires a wonderful ease in walking on without stopping, for it is only the beginning of the road that is painful."
