On Thursday, February 16, 4th grade students from five Pennsylvania elementary schools connected with each other in a virtual environment in a webinar organized by the Chester County Intermediate Unit. All 4th grade students in the state of PA study Pennsylvania geography and history, and this project was designed to make learning hands-on using online learning and collaborative tools. Jayni Webster'12, one of Delco’s best scorers in 2011-12 is sidelined for the remainder of the season. Webster, who was averaging 15.1 points per game, suffered a torn ACL earlier this month in a defeat to Mount St. Joseph’s. Webster’s year was cut short at the most inopportune time. At the time of her injury, she was 30 points shy of 1,000 for her career. Full story here.
Karleigh Carlin’12 and Taylor Brady’12 recently signed letters of intent to continue their sports careers in college. Carlin will play Division 1 field hockey for Kent State University, and Brady will row on the Division 1 crew team at Drexel University.
Carlin and Brady were joined by family members, coaches, teachers and classmates at Country Day School of the Sacred Heart during signing parties held at the school. Present at the signings were Sacred Heart athletic director Cindy Shay, Sacred Heart varsity field hockey coach Meredith Rull, and Sacred Heart crew team head coach Josselyn Delussey.
Earlier this year, both Carlin and Brady made AACA All-Stars and All-Delco for field hockey, as well as All-Main Line Team selections for field hockey, with Brady making First Team and Carlin making Second Team.

CDSSH Choir Performs at Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Benefit
Posted 10/17/11 On Sunday, October 16th, the CDSSH Choir performed in “Dancing for Life,” the second annual benefit dance concert for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, held at Swarthmore College. The event was guest hosted by former Channel 6 Sports Anchor Phil Andrews.
CDSSH Tennis Team Earns Five Medals at AACA Tournament
The CDSSH tennis team has been playing strong this season, with several players medaling in the AACA tournament.Taylor Nguyen ’15 placed first in the singles tournament, as well as second in the doubles tournament with her tennis partner, Isabella Draper ’12. Caroline Greenwald ’12 and Maggie Hoover ’15 placed third in the doubles tournament.
On a sunny Friday in October, dozens of fathers joined their daughters at Fathers’ Day at School, an annual event hosted by the Country Day School of the Sacred Heart for students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 5th, 9th and 12th grades.The fathers spent all or part of the day attending classes, eating lunch and taking part in a special Mass.

CDSSH Hosts Cyber-Bullying Conference
Posted 10/6/11 CDSSH hosted the Delaware County District Attorney's Office Cyber Bullying and Social Media Educational Summit for high school students from Sacred Heart, The Academy of Notre Dame, Monsignor Bonner, Archibishop Prendergast, Garnet Valley School District and the Upper Darby School District. ADA Joe Lesniack presented on Cyber Bullying and Detective Nat Evans presented on Social Media. Both of these presentations were taped so that St. Joseph's University can use them to develop online educational programs. The third topic of the day was a presentation/discussion on provocative and intimate images, facilitated by Detective Lisa DiMartini.
Beth Kephart Visits CDSSH

Beth Kephart, author of Dangerous Neighbors, visited CDSSH to discuss the novel, which had been CDSSH’s school-wide summer reading assignment, read by students in grades 8 through 12, and by the faculty. Kephart began the afternoon with a presentation of images and illustrations surrounding the Philadelphia Centennial, which forms the background of the novel. She then met individually with each class to discuss the book and its themes, as well as to answer questions. Kephart finished the day with a wrap-up presentation and book signing. Later that day, CDSSH was featured on Beth Kephart’s blog, where she complimented the students on their, “thoughtfulness, honesty, and spontaneity.” The event was arranged by Kerri Schuster, Head of English.
