  • Academics Overview

    In the tradition of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat who would have founded the Society of the Sacred Heart for the sake of one child, Sacred Heart's educational program provides a holistic approach to learning with a curriculum well-grounded in basic and special courses. Sacred Heart offers a traditional approach to education taught in contemporary ways in a manner consistent with the five goals for a Sacred Heart education. The Studies Office coordinates the academic programs, policies, and procedures for the Middle and Upper Schools. The Director of the Lower School coordinates the Lower School Academic Program.

    The responsibilities outlined below are handled by the Studies Office, in conjunction with Department Chairs and the Directors of the three divisions.     Parents with questions about a student’s progress, performance, grades or conduct in a particular class are encouraged to first contact the teacher (teacher voice mail and e-mail lists are included on our web site). Teachers have first-hand information about your daughter’s assignments, grades, effort and abilities. If additional conversation is warranted, then the parent should contact the Director of Studies for further academic discussions or the Director of the appropriate school for other matters.
